Sixth Sense is gaining some new functionality: Email alerts for when your poker buddies (or fish) are online.
This feature is currently in Beta and could use your help. Go to the link below and sign up (yes, even SS users need to sign up with it). Then go to its preferences page to add some buddies. Every minute or so the online tables are scanned for your poker buddies, and if new ones come on you will receive an email.
The next message will hold an updated FAQ for the Fish Alert service. Please read it and check back occassionally as it is updated.
And post any comments or suggestions in this thread so I can see what changes can be made.

This is the Fish Alert FAQ.
Q: How many buddies can I have?
A: Currently the system limits you to 10 poker buddies. This will definitely be exanded for SS users to be very high (e.g., 1000). I want it fairly small for now to make input and testing easier.
Q: Can I control how many emails I get?
A: Yes, in your preferences you can turn email notifications ON or OFF. You can also set the max # of emails to receive per day. Also, by default, the system won't send you an email notification if one was sent within the last 60 minutes.
Q: Which poker sites are supported?
A: It supports all of the sites the Sixth Sense supports, which is currently: PartyPoker, FullTilt, Absolute, and Bodog.

First impressions and first scan and email recieved seemed fine and no problems there. Definately going to use this for the next couple of days and see how it goes. Thanks
Gave me stats on 3 buddies it found and all the tables they were sitting at and stack sizes, Nice little feature thanks, Will post some more feedback next day or 2

The verification code isn't implemented yet, so it will just send you emails right away.
The service that checks for the buddies sometimes crashes, which is what I'm working on now.

I just fixed a memory leak in the Fish Alert scanning service, so it should be much more reliable now.

Been testing this since my original post and havent come across any problems at all.
Great feature and i will continue to use this alot, Great seeing exactly when the fish first sit down or even buddy's

Great, glad its working well for you.
Most SS users don't come to these forums. Once it is integrated into the client, and they can see how it works it will get some more use I hope.

Phil Ivey is playing on FTP right now (thanks to my Fish Alert). I wouldn't consider him a "fish" though. :)

Well i use this all the time, unfortunately it has alot of down time, Great for finding the fish or even railing players, Just dont think this idea has been promoted enough to gain much interest.
also on another note my 6th sense coring has become terribl;e and slow isnt the word, i cant even score the tables before i play cause it takes over 15minutes, ive compacted my DB within pokertracker, use ptagg every session and even disk defrag etc and still the scoring is super slow, Put it this way i dont use 6th sense client at the moment just running off the email alerts. any idea's why more scoring has become so slow? reached a certain number of hands or anything?

Have you vacuumed your PTAgg database? The only way you can do that is using the PGAdmin III tool. That might speed it up.
I assume you are using PTAgg, if you aren't you should be.

Hi, Yeah i just recently vacuumed my pokertracker postsql DB, is that what your talking about?, then run PTagg within 6th sense, no hands have been played/imported since and the problem is still there.
i havent vacumed the PTagg database tho, didnt even know that was possible, how do i do that?

Currently the only way to do it is with the PGAdmin III tool. Select the database in the tool, and then vacuum it.

Is there any restrictions or anything in regards to hands i import? approaching 2 million, Obviously i understand this is a large amount of data to track and score but it seems to have really slowed up within the last 24-48hours and never been like this before.

I've improved the reliability of the Fish Alert service. It shouldn't go down anymore.
Let me know what new features I could add to the service, etc.

I kept it at 10 to make the user interface easier. I could bump it up though, especially for subscribers.
